Bursting fresh onto the wrestling scene, Thorn near instantly gets attention brought to him as Prince Steven decides to pick a fight with him, the notorious cheater and his equally scummy manager earning Jake's ire through their disregard for the rules.

That rivalry quickly jumps to include Sellsword, the money motivated heel having been hired by Vic Vance, Prince Steven's manager, to chase Thorn away. This culminated in his breakthrough match, a backroom brawl with Sellsword in the boiler room. Though the match started looking like a squash for Jake, he made an amazing comeback, giving it back as good as he got. Though it still ended with a defeat for the babyface, it was an amazing showing for both talents.

Thorn seems to have an amazing talent for making sure each match he's in is a great one, increasing the reputation of everyone in the match. Despite being yet to win a single match, there was no sign that it made him or any of his opponents seem weak, and so he is continuously put against anyone who needs a chance to show off their skill and announce themselves as a threat.

He finally won his first match against Josephine Deville, the red-clad wrestler having been distracted with the theme of her former partner, Kevin Dreamer. Having had no hand in arranging the diversion, Jake was confused, but thrilled at having gotten a victory.

Though he and his manager's usual trickery prevented it from being counted, Thorn managed to pin Prince Steven, fracturing the egotistical man's thus far perfect record.
